Winter Wedding Theme
Winter can be a wonderful time of the year to celebrate a wedding. But it
can also be freezing cold, snowy and icy outside, causing a mess with even
your best plans. So lets take a look at winter wedding theme planning tips
that can help make your wedding celebration a huge success.
Winter Tune Up
Just as you would your vehicles, get your wedding planning tuned up for
winter. Begin early by preparing and using a Checklist. Forget about using
old envelopes lying around and napkins to jot down your notes. You need to
create a formal plan in a notebook or 3-ring binder. If the notebook or
binder does not pockets, pick up a plastic 3-ring insert pouch or a folder
with pockets to use along with your Checklist. Then insert tabbed sections
or create your own in a spiral-bound notebook, to set up sections for
organized notes.
Next write out tabs for your basic checklist subject categories. These
categories are popular ones to use, but feel free to customize to fit your
own planning needs:
Accommodations
Assistants / Attendants
Catering
Ceremony
Clothing
Entertainment
Flowers
Gifts
Personal Accessories
Photos
Stationary
Reminders
Reception
Rehearsal
As you plan, put all vendor business cards, estimates, brochures, pricing
sheets, invoices, etc. in your binder pockets, plastic pouch or folder.
Keeping everything together will help as the event gets closer.
Winter Tips
Here are some winter wedding theme planning tips to help make your wedding
celebration more memorable and fun:
1) Winter generally means much colder weather, so be sure to take notes in
the following categories about needing winter gear: Accommodations,
Clothing, Personal Accessories, Reception, Rehearsal. Especially for people
who arrive from warmer climates year-round, advise these guests to bring
hats, gloves and coats.
2) Outdoor photos need planned ahead of time. Plus gather plenty of winter
decoration pieces like mistletoe, holly or other winter plants needed for
beautiful centerpieces.
3) Order some winter stationary for your invitations, place cards, Thank You
notes, scratch pads for attendee and guest reminders, for printing maps out
for your wedding party and other travelers and for all other.
4) Winterize cars and household ahead of time to prepare for the unexpected.
Have extra heating supplies on hand (wood, gas
whatever you use),
flashlights and candles, warm blankets, canned foods and bottled beverages,
etc.
