Wine Wedding Themes

Weddings that take place in vineyards or in other ways involve sampling fine wines are popular among wine connoisseurs. Take a look at some tips to help with planning a wonderful wine wedding theme.

Location, Location, Location – Of course the first point of focus is to find a good location for summer weather or rain to house everyone. Sure, an outdoor setting in a beautiful vineyard with vines and grapes all around sounds appealing. But what happens if it rains and / or turns cold? Make sure there is a suitable awning or other covered area or an indoor servicing area for the celebration. Or seek a nice restaurant with experience hosting wine tastings to host the event.

Checklist – Get together with the event planner at the vineyard or restaurant to coordinate a checklist. See what they have to offer like linens, table arrangements, place settings, tables, chairs, hour devours, beverages and mixed drinks, music, wedding decorations and parking and coat check service. And see what you need to include on your To Do list like order a cake, plan favors and gifts, prepare wedding speeches, get bridal dresses and tuxes ordered, reception, rehearsal dinner, invitations, flowers, thank you cards, and more.

Enlist Help – Make sure to start early and enlist plenty of help planning your wedding celebration. Don’t overlook relatives who’d like to get involved and friends, both single and married ones.

Organization – Get organized early, too. Grab your wedding planner book or start a journal or scrapbook. Keep notes, information like floral brochures and snap shots, sample invitations and menus all together in one place in a folder.

Automation - Use a home computer or laptop, if you can. Even basic Microsoft software programs like Frontpage, Word and Excel can help you with many things like: creating invitations, coordinating your mailing and phone list, planning tables with comparison shopping data in charts or tables, coordinating digital photos, designing a web page to announce your event and post wedding photos, track expenses, create menus, jot down rehearsal and reception information flyers and emails for out-of-towners. You can also type up your wedding announcement and fax it to the local paper form your Word software and create fun banners and other neat printed items to add to your scrap book.

Accommodations – Seek recommendations from the restaurant, winery or vineyard for the best place to accommodate your wedding guests. Also check with travel agencies online and membership companies like AAA for package deals.
