Wedding Theme Idea

Many women begin to think about their “dream” weddings from the time they are young children. Weddings in the media, at theatres, on television and in everyday life make a wedding theme idea develop over time. Important aspects of the wedding that are developed over time include the following – and more, all centered around a general theme idea like a Cinderella or Garden Wedding Theme, for example:

1) Wedding Dress- What style comes into play most, followed by color, generally, depending upon any previous marital or living status and country of origin (not all countries wear white). For second marriages or those marrying who’ve already had children or are with child, off white seems popular, or a favorite color of the bride. However, many factors come into play with regards to style:
- Train – should the dress have one and if so, how long
- Trim – what type of style and color of lace or other trim should be used
- Headpiece – which style and color is preferred and should this have a train, or the dress….

2) Wedding Rings – Plain gold bands for both bride and groom are most common choices worldwide for a basic wedding theme idea. For those with larger budgets and extravagant themes, diamonds are added in the form of an engagement ring, most often.

3) Wedding Accessories – Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue are of course the accessories most often desired by brides. So a popular wedding theme idea might make use of an old heirloom piece of jewelry, a borrowed pair of earrings form a favorite relative or friend, a blue garter belt and a new bracelet. Mix and match per theme choice.

4) Flowers – Depending upon the location of the wedding and the wedding theme idea, flowers need to be supplied. Color is a main consideration, to coordinate with theme choices and favorites along with quality fresh flowers. Check ahead for references with florists and see samples and photos of their past wedding arrangements. And make sure to include enough flowers for all: the bride's bouquet, bridesmaid's bouquets, corsages for the mother of the bride and mother of the groom, and boutonnieres for the father of the bride and father of the groom. Grandparents should also get corsages and any step-parents. Then get flowers for decorations: centerpieces of tables where people will be eating, centerpiece for the buffet table, a large arrangement for the front of the church, smaller bunches for along the aisle way / pews, rehearsal dinner centerpiece and reception table and room decorations.
