Wedding Color Theme
Choosing a wedding theme is one thing. Choosing the wedding color theme is
another. Here are tips in alphabetical order on how to coordinate your
coloring theme plans:
• Accessories – Accent your main choice of attire, wedding dresses,
brides maid dresses and tuxes with your color themes by adding splashes of
flowers and ribbon around them in that color in boutonnieres, the bouquets
and corsages. Look into coordinating shoes and hair ornaments and cufflinks.
And don’t forget to add a splash of color to grandma and parent bouquets.
• Accommodations –Welcome gift baskets or floral arrangements can be
color coordinated with your wedding color theme.
• Attire – Check into bride’s maid dresses and men’s tuxedo shirts in
your wedding color theme. If it’s too wild or not available, check into
adding something to the outfits like a vest, sash, shawl or stick pin in the
coordinating color theme.
• Ceremony – Surround your ceremony pathway in your color theme in
the flowers along the aisle way, at the alter area and in the bouquet.
• Flowers- Ask a florist to help you find fresh flowers in your
colors. Some can be died. You can also opt for ribbons and added inserts
like plastic favors or tiny fruits to be inserted, adding more color
choices.
• Food – Homemade candies can be made to fit nearly any color scheme
with food coloring. Check out some cookbooks for help:
“The Wedding Catering Cookbook,”(Nitty Gritty Cookbooks) by Christie Katona
(Paperback - Oct 15, 2005)
“1001 Ways to Save Money ... and Still Have a Dazzling Wedding,” by Sharon
Naylor (Paperback - Sep 1, 1994)
“Brides, Inc.: American Weddings And the Business of Tradition,” by Vicki
Howard (Hardcover - Jun 23, 2006)
• Gifts – If you have difficulty finding gifts to match your color
theme, just wrap them in themed gift wrap. Can’t go too wrong with silver or
gold. Those colors go with practically every combo.
• Photos – Find colorful frames for our photos or make them. Head to
the local craft store for patterns and tips or check out library books.
• Stationary – Don’t forget to coordinate your invitations and other
communications with color coordinated stationary items. Even if you choose
white, you can get a festive rubber stamp or two with colorful inks. Check
out colorful stickers and fun confetti in all types of colors, too, at
office supplies stores and greeting card sites. No need to just send white!
