Fairy Tale Wedding Theme

Fairy tale weddings are very popular. Imagine the prince carrying the bride away in his horse drawn carriage and you have a general idea. Here are some ideas to help set up a fun fairy tale wedding theme.

1. Start with your budget to determine if you need more of a local setting like a nearby historic castle that boasts room to hold weddings. Or if you can afford it, check out places like Disney in Florida to see about using their castle or other area attractions surely fit for a princess and other royalty. Similarly, check the honeymoon budget for accommodations that fit your theme.

2. Hit local craft and fabric stores to find fairy tale ‘jewels’ for crowns or tiaras, dazzling buttons and glittery fabrics. Wrap large framed pictures in fairy tale gift wrap, tie with huge ribbon and bows and decorate throughout the reception area. Look in fabric pattern books for ideas for costumes for the ring bearer and younger attendants, even the older ones. Check the Halloween section for princess costume ideas.

3. Entertainment – For music, check with the hosting location for ideas and bands to interview. You can even check with local historic tourist sites for more ideas, like colonial museums and civil war sites for flutists and accompanists. And ask church organists for referrals as well as local high school music teachers and music store owners where lessons are given.

4. Menus – For food ideas, check out royal cookbooks at the local library and bookstores. Or head to Amazon.com where you can find gems like these:

“English Royal Cookbook: Favorite Court Recipes,” (Hippocrene International Cookbook Series) by Elizabeth Craig (Paperback - May 1998)

“Royal Cookbook Favorite Court Recipes from the World's Royal Families,” by Parents' Magazine Press and Ilustrated (Hardcover - 1971)

5. Get Help – Don’t try to do it all alone. Sure, it can be fun to be the one in control, but that doesn’t mean you have to DO everything by yourself. Check out bridal magazines for fairy tale wedding theme tips, party favors, fashion advice, floral arrangement ideas, menus and recipe planning. Call around to castles in your state or region. And search online; for example, check out these castle directories: http://www.castleshotels.com/USA

Don’t neglect wedding planners. These people can often be found in the Yellow Pages, through local churches and online. And they have lots of resources for all types of wedding themes.
